Instructions

Step 1: Prep
Dice Green Bell Pepper.
Dice Onion.
Dice or Mince Garlic if using fresh.

Step 2: Brown Beef
Heat a large pan on stovetop over medium-high heat.
Add ground beef.
Using back of knuckles, press beef into pan.
Allow beef to sit, unmoved until browned, roughly 3-4 minutes.
Flip and break up beef.
Drain grease from cooked beef.
Beef will continue to cook in next steps.

Step 3: Cook Vegetables
Add Onion, Green Pepper, Garlic.
Cook until veggies begin to soften, roughly 2-3 minutes.
If mixture looks too dry, add water 1 tablespoon at a time.

Step 4: Add Remaining Ingredients
Add Tomato Sauce or Tomato Paste if using them.
Add Ketchup, Brown Sugar, Onion, Green Pepper, Mustard.
Add Chili Powder, Red Pepper Flakes, Worcestershire Sauce if using them.
Mix well and bring to a boil.
Salt and Pepper as needed.
Reduce heat to simmer.
Allow to simmer 20-30 minutes.

Step 5: Optional - Toast Buns
If desired, spread butter on buns and toast.

Step 6: Finsh and Serve
Spoon beef mixture over buns.
Add cheese if desired.
